1. Independent Software Utility

SGPACGPA is an independent software utility created to assist students with arithmetic calculations of academic grade points. SGPACGPA is not an official university portal, statutory board service, or governmental agency.

We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or associated with the University Grants Commission (UGC), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), or any university or autonomous educational institution.

2. Absolute Primacy of Official Transcripts & Regulations

The conversion formulas, semester credit weights, and grading schemes printed on the reverse side of your official university Statement of Marks, Consolidated Transcript, or statutory university academic ordinances take absolute legal precedence over all results generated by this website.

In the event of any discrepancy between a calculation produced by this website and your institution's official transcript, the official institutional record governs.

3. Scope of Conversion Rules

There is no single universal conversion formula governing higher education institutions in India or globally. Individual universities adopt distinct linear multipliers, offset-scale formulas, or piecewise percentile tables:

  • Different cohorts within the same university may follow different formulas (for instance, VTU 2018 CBCS scheme vs. VTU 2022 NEP scheme).
  • Autonomous universities enforce distinct piecewise formulas (such as University of Mumbai Circular UG/05) or AICTE-aligned technical ordinances (such as AKTU / UPTU).
  • AICTE formula guidelines are indicative model provisions; the statutory ordinances enacted by the degree-granting affiliating university take legal precedence.
  • User-entered custom multipliers or formulas are calculated exactly as provided by the user and have not been verified by SGPACGPA against institutional archives.

4. Indicative Nature of Reverse Calculations

Any reverse computation from percentage marks to CGPA is an indicative estimate only. Because credit-based grading systems map broad marks bands into single discrete letter grades, true cumulative grade points cannot be reconstructed with mathematical certainty from a percentage score alone unless explicitly permitted by an admitting authority.

5. School Board Policies & Admission Conventions

CBSE does not declare or inform overall percentage or division on its marksheets (CBSE Circular F.No.CBSE/COORD/CIRCULAR/2023). Likewise, CISCE does not declare an overall aggregate percentage on the Statement of Marks.

Criteria such as "English + Best 4" (ICSE) or "English + Best 3" (ISC) are admission conventions adopted by admitting institutions, not statutory board percentages. Students must confirm specific eligibility criteria with their target institution.

6. Official Applications & Document Verification

Do not cite SGPACGPA as an authoritative verification agency on official government job applications, visa filings, or university admissions dossiers. Always attach the official conversion certificate or marksheet excerpt issued by your university examination branch.
